Vacation Schemes

We run summer vacation schemes each year to enable prospective trainees to spend time with us in order to get a feel for the work we do and the unique RPC atmosphere. Twelve students at a time spend two weeks with us and are integrated closely with the real working life of RPC, giving our summer students a good idea of whether a career here is right for them.

During the scheme we provide our summer students with real legal work, and expose them to the business side of being a lawyer, including getting an introduction to the importance of business development and marketing and involving them in a 'real-time' business projects.

We also run an Open Day programme aimed at candidates who perform well at summer scheme interview, but to whom we are unable to offer a place for the summer scheme itself. The Open Day is a great way to get a snapshot of the firm; the day is packed full of activities, including handling work in two different departments, listening to presentations, taking part in skills workshops and attending networking events.

Length of the program

2 weeks.

Timing of Scheme

Our schemes are held in June and July. Interviews take place between January and March.

Number of placements

12 students per scheme.

How and when to apply

Our trainees receive first rate training in a supportive working environment. They work closely with a partner and will be given real responsibility as soon as they are ready to handle it. At least six months will be spent in four areas of our practice and we encourage our trainees to express preferences for the areas in which they would like to train.

Seats

We offer a four seat, six-month rotation, which enables trainees to gain experience across a variety of practice areas. We ensure that all trainees complete an Insurance seat as well as a compulsory non-contentious seat, in either, Corporate, Real Estate, Pensions, Commercial or Construction.

We have one intake commencing in September each year. If you are interested in deferring your start date, please discuss this with the Graduate Recruitment team at the point you are made an offer of a training contract.

We run day long assessment centres each year to select our trainee solicitors. Each assessment day includes an interview, presentation and client exercise.

Location

Our assessment centres take place in our London office

With whom

During the assessment day candidates will get the opportunity to meet members of the graduate recruitment team, which includes HR, partners and associates. They will attend a partner-hosted candidate lunch and will meet current trainees via a tour of the offices.
